HUGELY SUCCESSFUL CLEAN-UP EVENT

DRAWS A DELIGHTED CROWD.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED

IN THE 2ND ANNUAL

GREAT HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS CLEAN-UP

& YAMASHIRO RECEPTION

The most successful event in Hollywood Heights history took place on Saturday, November 17.  Thats when Hollywood Heights residents, with the help of our CD4 Council Office and various city agencies, turned out in force to clean up our streets and make our neighborhood shine.

Residents worked shoulder to shoulder; sweeping, raking, shoveling, stooping and bagging up all manner of refuse and debris, from streets, sidewalks, curbs, corners and crevices.  South Glencoe Way alone, produced 15 huge bags of waste, plus overflowing trash bins, bundled up and waiting at the curb for special Department of Sanitation pick-up, followed by a welcome visit from the street cleaning machines rarely seen in our community in recent years.

After the grunt work, the tired, happy laborers gathered in the Yamashiro Garden Court, for a celebration and buffet graciously provided by Andy and Carlos Ulloa, co-owners of Yamashiro and Magic Castle.  In attendance were representatives from our CD4 Council Office, including Councilman Tom LaBonge, and CD4 Hollywood Field Deputy Stacy Marble, whose unstinting efforts were crucial to the success of the event.

If you didn't get to participate this year, be sure to join us next year.  Its a truly rewarding experience, in which neighbors get to know neighbors, working together to do something wonderful for this very special place we call home.
