ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5th, THE MOST SUCCESSFUL EVENT IN HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS HISTORY WAS REPEATED
FOR THE SIXTH YEAR.
That's when Hollywood Heights residents, with the help of
YAMASHIRO, our CD4 Council Office and various city agencies,
came out in force to clean up our streets and make our
neighborhood shine.
Once again neighbors worked shoulder to shoulder; sweeping, raking, shoveling, stooping and bagging up all manner of refuse and debris; from streets, sidewalks, curbs, corners and crevices. Special Department of Sanitation pick-up for the mountain of trash collected was followed by a welcome visit from the street cleaning machines rarely seen in our community in recent years.
After the grunt work, YAMASHIRO RESTAURANT once again generously hosted a post-Clean-up Buffet and Celebration around the koi pond, for the tired, happy laborers.
Our CD4 Council Office, including Councilman Tom LaBonge, and CD4 Hollywood Field Deputy Sharon Shapiro, again lent their crucial support to the success of the event.
If you didn't get to participate this time, be sure to join us next Fall. It's a truly rewarding experience, in which neighbors get to know neighbors, working together to do something wonderful for this very special place called Hollywood Heights.

RESIDENTS AND THE HHA BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAVE WITNESSED A YEAR OF CHALLENGE AND CHANGE IN HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS: Possible sale of Yamashiro/Magic Castle properties is happily off the table for now. Construction of a massive retaining wall on upper Sycamore is over and the city planted and maintained landscaping is blooming apace. Continuing road and street work has slowed for the moment, while cut-through traffic woes and permit parking issues continue. And everywhere around us, development, development, development.

WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS ASSOCIATION WEBSITE.
The goal of hollywoodheights.org is to provide you with a highly responsive and interactive resource for a wide variety of information and services affecting our neighborhood. To that end, we have created a site that can be instantly updated with information from our President and Committee Members, rather than having to go through a "middleman" or outside webmaster. You'll find the most current information available concerning Traffic and Street Closures, Crime Updates, Meetings and Special Events (even a link to Local Weather), under our Traffic and Weather banner. There is a page spotlighting Design and Preservation, and an Of the Month link to a fascinating compendium of subjects including Pet of the Month, Person of the Month and Home of the Month. (Residents are invited to submit pets, homes and ideas for publication on the site). Please take a few moments to view our site, and then return often to check out the latest news.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
President's POV
Since 1983, Hollywood Heights Association has united our neighborhood and helped define its unique identity. So I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as your newly elected President. I am extremely grateful for all of the hard work of past members, board members, and most certainly past Presidents. As we embark on a period full of critical changes, there are many issues that will affect us in the months and years to come. Permit Parking for our neighborhood is at the top of our current agenda, along with new construction and city plans for the Hollywood area. Please join us each month to contribute your comments or send suggestions to a committee chair to be presented to the Hollywood Heights Association Board meeting. To find out who to contact, please check the "Committees and Reports" menu at the top of this page. We use the website to further our collective efforts in preserving our unique hillside community.
Help shape the future of Hollywood Heights and share your point of view!
Best regards,
Lisa Thurnauer
